If a white person who was born and raised in Africa moves the US and becomes a citzen, is she African-American?
With this semi-humorous question, I have been forever cured of the PC-based term "African-American" to describe black people.
A cynic would respond thusly: "No, Charlize Theron is still white. That's how race works in America."
Probably, but then there are no Italian-Americans, Irish-Americans, Jewish-Americans or any other "-Americans."
Race labels are now gone from my vocab. If anyone sees them in my writings, you have my permission to give me a swift (boat) kick in the tush.
