"Deference"

Defined on askoxford.com as "humble submission and respect."

This is how the McCan't campaign demands the press treat Sarah Palin in interviews. Tim Rutten writes in the Los Angeles Times:
Respect and courtesy, maybe. Everybody is entitled to those -- including candidates for office -- and journalists seldom look worse than when they forget that. But deference? [George W. Bush] does not require deference from his media interlocutors, but the ambitious governor of Alaska does?

Plus, when entering her office, take off your shoes, use hand sanitizer, sit criss-cross applesauce at her feet (after genuflecting in her direction, of course).

Uh, yeah right (now you know why I chose that for the name of my blog).
