The Wheels on the Bus...

...fall off, off, off!

Andrew Sullivan has been dutifully chronicling the McCain/Palin panoply of lies that have marked their despicable campaign for the White House. So has Josh Marshall at TPM, Matt Yglesias at Think Progress, and Bob Cesca.

Conservative commentators, including Ross Douthat, David Frum, David Brooks, and Charles Krauthammer, are displeased with McCain's choice for VP and his unapologetic lying. Even the solidly mainstream broadcast media are showing signs of testiness with the McCain campaign. McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds now has the dubious distinction of getting his ass handed to him on all three major cable networks -- CNN, MSNBC, and now Fox News. Hell, even Bill O'Reilly has defended Barack Obama against the McCain smears. Karl Rove (!) says McCain has gone too far.

McCain himself got pilloried by the ladies at "The View." I saw that video, and let me tell you how great it was to see how little Elizabeth Hasselbeck could say. McCain's face after Joy Behar told him straight up that he was lying in his ads was, in a word, priceless.

But what gives with the conservatives? I guess that, despite agreeing with McCain on his tax policy, his social agenda, and even the "success" of the surge, nobody likes a goddamn liar.
